In 2021, Meyer came out of retirement to take his first National Football League (NFL) job as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, but was fired 13 games into his first and only season, after going 2-11 and being involved in both on- and off-field controversies. He then went back to Fox Sports to resume his broadcasting career.
